The Awá tribe are amongst the last “uncontacted” people of Brazil. Illegal loggers and ranchers have encroached on their land for years, threatening the Awá’s very existence. But now the Brazilian government forcing squatters to leave. Sarah Shenker of Survival International will update us on the efforts to save the Awá from the destruction of their lands and culture.

Brazil’s build-up to this summer’s soccer World Cup has hit numerous snags. Construction delays have led to threats of cancellations from FIFA, the soccer world’s governing body. And human rights observers are keeping a close eye on evictions of people from poorer areas. We’ll talk with, Euan Hague.
