The Iraqi cities of Ramadi and Fallujah have been taken over by militants, many of whom are members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an Al Qaeda-affiliated group which is also fighting in Syria. Iraqi-American Laith Saud, a visiting professor at DePaul University’s Religious Studies Department, explains why sectarian violence is on the rise in Iraq.

Then, Cherif Bassiouni, president emeritus of DePaul University’s International Human Rights Law Institute, joins us to talk about Egypt, where the interim government declared the Muslim Brotherhood a “terrorist organization” last month. Just last year Mohammed Morsi, a candidate from the Muslim Brotherhood, won the presidency, although he was later deposed by the military. Leaders from the group have since been arrested, but most have vowed to continue the fight against the crackdown. We take a look at what could come next.
