Journalists at the Southern Weekend have gone on strike in protest of what they say is meddling in their editorial process. They accused the head of party propaganda in Guandong Province of altering an editorial that had called for greater constitutional rights and changing it to praise the Communist Party. Wenguang Huang, author of The Little Red Guard, weighs in on whether this strike will lead to greater press freedom in China. Huang's forthcoming book is called A Death in the Lucky Holiday Hotel: Murder, Money, and an Epic Power Struggle in China.
