Being accused of having an affair with the hostdad (wrongfully!!) with Annabel
23.05.2025

In this episode of AuPairCoffee ️, Annabell shares her wild au pair journey ! She started in Tennessee, but things took a CRAZY turn when her host mom accused her of having an affair with the host dad (which was NOT true!!). The situation got so toxic —they even communicated with her through their child 🫠. She was suddenly kicked out while the family was planning to adopt another child . On top of everything, she had to drive her OWN car all the way to Florida for a "family vacation" ... seriously?! After a tough rematch , Annabell finally found a new family in Connecticut —not quite NYC, but close enough ️. She looked after older kids (10 & 8) but struggled to connect with them . The whole experience made her realize that maybe being an au pair wasn’t for her . With only one month to find a family and prepare for departure , did she even have enough time to think it through?! She also did a business & marketing internship during her au pair year—and guess what? She actually preferred that over working with kids ! The hardest part? Living with your employer . In this episode, she spills ALL the tea on her au pair experience, talks about the book Au Pair Affair, and explains why she decided to LEAVE the program . From Au Pair in Australia to a life just like a main character in Dance Academy 🩰 with Mia
09.05.2025
34 Minuten
In this episode of Aupaircoffee, Mia shares how her au pair journey turned into a whole new life down under! ️ She first moved to Sydney three years ago and spent eight months as an au pair in the stunning Northern Beaches, taking care of three boys. Since the youngest was only six months old, she co-parented a lot with the mom. ️ Unlike most au pairs, she didn’t go through an agency but found her family on Facebook – something she’d definitely do differently now! Looking for a new host family that would allow her to pursue her passion for dance, she ended up in a crazy second au pair experience… Three boys again (3, 7, and 9), but this time, she had no time off, worked insane hours, and wasn’t paid properly. To make things worse, the family never told her that the kids had special needs, which made the job even harder. Eventually, she left and decided to fully focus on dance. Now, Mia is living the ultimate Aussie dream – by the beach, embracing the surfer lifestyle, and studying dance full-time for two years! Adjusting to the Australian accent was a challenge, but she’s loving every moment of it. Her life now? Pretty much like Tara’s from Dance Academy! 20% discount for exchangelife: https://www.exchange-life.com/aupaircoffee 150€ off your program fee with AuPairCare: Code: "aupaircoffee": https://info.aupaircare.de/promo Grab a coffee and listen to Mia’s inspiring story about chasing dreams, adapting to new cultures, and finding her true passion! #Aupaircoffee #AuPairLife #SydneyAdventures #NorthernBeaches ️ #AuPairAustralia #DancerLife #FollowYourDreams #SurferVibes #DanceAcademyVibes #LivingAbroad #CulturalExchange #AuPairExperiences #RealTalk ️ #LifeDownUnder #BackpackerLife #BeachLife #AuPairStruggles #ChasingDreams #AustralianAccent #ListenNow

College classes at Disney World, Young host parents and Life in Denver, Colorado with Matea
11.04.2025
38 Minuten
In this episode of AuPairCoffee, Clara sits down with Matea, an Austrian au pair living in Denver, Colorado. She shares her unique experience of living with very young host parents and caring for a baby—while the family is already expecting their next child! From adjusting to their dynamic to embracing the challenges of being an au pair in a growing household, Matea gives us a glimpse into her everyday life. But that’s not all! Matea also answers some of the biggest questions future au pairs might have. Do you really need a car as an au pair, or can you manage without one? Are all host families as wealthy as they seem on social media? And how do you actually choose the right agency? She also talks about how much her English has improved since moving to the U.S. and how taking college credits—like a course at Disney World in Orlando—has shaped her experience. Beyond the au pair life, Matea dives into cultural differences, like why dinner is the biggest meal of the day in the U.S. ️, the struggle of making American friends, and the surprising freedom of being 21+ in the States. She even shares the small but unexpected adjustments—like realizing you’re *allowed* to turn right at a red light! And, of course, we talk about one of the most nerve-wracking moments for any au pair: those first few days with a brand-new host family. From settling in to building connections, Matea gives her best advice on making the transition smooth.
