Great up and coming band with a powerful message. Fire From The Gods is a band out of Austin, TX. Lead vocalist AJ Cammer is the special guest on episode 117 of the DOMKcast. The band has been around since 2015 and released two albums to date. Their first "Narrative" deals with the issues of AJ who sunk into a deep depression at a certain time period in his life with feelings of emptiness and unfulfillment. Finding a purpose in his art and music, AJ tells the continuous journey of one man in both of the albums from "Fire From The Gods". Narrative highlights a dark time period and "American Sun" is a continuation of the walk into a more positive light. The band is on tour right now with Five Finger Death Punch and Three Days Grace. Dave ventured out to California for a few years and recently moved back to his old stomping grounds. A great conversation about the difference between the two music scenes(Northern California and Oklahoma), the decision to drop "Promo" from his name, and what he has on the horizon with his band The Haters. Dave has also been playing a few gigs with Bandcamp from time to time so ample opportunities to seehim in action around town. A little more grounded these days with a wife and two kids. The obsession with a "perfect" persona is the overall theme of the new album from called "Flawed Design". Adam Gontier and Mike Mushok are the special guests on episode 115 of the DOMKcast. Social media is king these days and everybody is all in on portraying the "perfect" life. Saint Asonia provides encouragement to not chase after those superficial goals and embrace your flaws. It's what makes you unique. Mike revealed in the conversation that he's one of the few people left on earth without a social media account of any kind. Deep and personal lyrics are laced throughout the new album. You'll hear about the events that led to the song "This August Day" where Adam articulates missing the birth of his son due to a stint in rehab. Realizing that the most important thing for him and his family was to rid the demons from the past. The dynamic is different these days being on the road-both Adam and Mike having kids. They talk about being a father and the balancing act of taking care of those responsibilities and enjoying their passion that they've cultivated in Saint Asonia. New album due out October 25th called "All Hail". Veteran rockers Norma Jean are poised to do big things in 2020. Hitting the road with Devil Wears Prada and going to make their way through the states to finish out the year. The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years. None of the original members in the band are currently in Norma Jean. The most recent lineup change happening with the departure of guitarist Jeff Hickey who has had troubles with alcoholism. Lead vocalist Corey Brandon talked Jeff's exit and many other topics on episode 114 of the DOMKcast. Corey's been on the DOMKcast before to talk about his other band Hundred Suns. He's focused his attention on Norma Jean of late. Corey talked about the differences between his two bands and how the recording process goes.
