DOVER CALLING

Join hosts Peter Cocks and John Orchard for a locked down chat with the Museum of British Folklore's Simon Costin and Mellany Robinson reliving the events of Dover's remarkable 'Waking the Giant' festival at Fort Burgoyne.

Peter and John meet Fort Burgoyne’s Artist in Residence Matt Rowe and talk to him about the upcoming ‘Waking the Giant’ event; a celebration of Making, Craft and Folklore. There will be local craftspeople, weavers, potters, blacksmith and knitters running demonstrations and workshops for all to enjoy.  The free event will take place on Saturday 29 February 2020 at Fort Burgoyne, Guston Rd, Dover. 

Peter and John pay a visit to the Dover house of British fashion legend Simon Costin, founder of The Museum of British Folklore. With Simon we meet the Museum's Director Mellany Robinson and hear why Folklore is finding favour with a younger audience. Simon also updates us on the restoration of his historic Dover house and why he chose to live there.
