Prosecutors say Indiana’s Stand Your Ground Law does not apply to
homeowner Curt Anderson, who fired a single shot from the top of
his stairs, through his front door, killing a 32-year-old house
cleaner who’s GPS sent her to the wrong home. Anderson said he
feared for his life when he was awakened to the sound of someone
trying to enter his home, grabbed his gun and fired. He maintains
it was his right to do so under the stand your ground law, but
prosecutors maintain that fear alone is not enough to justify
invoking the law. This is just the latest tragedy to unfold where
a gun owner kills someone who actually meant them no harm, and is
reigniting the debate on whether these laws embolden people to
shoot first, and ask questions later.
