Mirror Season 7, Episode 1 ("Common People") with writer and
philosopher Emily Herring, who recently explored the show’s
themes of platform capitalism and cognitive exploitation in The
New World. What does it mean to "subscribe" to your own mind, and
how do concepts like enshittification, machinic enslavement, and
time-debt shape our experience of autonomy? Along the way, we
examine Henri Bergson’s philosophy of memory and duration,
questioning whether the qualitative dimensions of consciousness
can survive under techno-capitalist regimes.
