In this episode, screenwriter and filmmaker Duc-Thi Bui takes us
on a journey through his path into filmmaking and shares why he
sees film as a powerful way to reconnect with his Vietnamese
roots as Việt Kiều.


From personal memories to big-screen storytelling, we dive into
the challenges and possibilities of creating stories that reflect
diverse Southeast Asian experiences.





NOTE: During our talk, we mention Made in Germany—a German TV
show (not the title of the episode we discuss; that one is called
“Annie”).


Việt Kiều is a Vietnamese term and means "Vietnamese Overseas" -
referring the Vietnamese diaspora outside of Vietnam.
