Magazine Dreams is the movie that you’ve likely never heard
of but should watch. Way back in 2023, Jonathan Majors put his
heart into a performance and very soon after its premiere, it was
discovered that Majors was abusing his
girlfriend. Dreams was quietly shoved to the side, and
given back to the filmmakers, however, it was released to the
public and I thought it was really good. So good, it deserved its
own mini review!
Despite what he was convicted of, there’s no denying that Majors
gave an oscar-caliber performance as Killian Maddox, a young man
who has severe mental disorders, outbursts of rage but has the
dream of being the bodybuilder that everyone idolizes. He fashions
himself after Brad Vanderhorn (four-time Mr. Universe, Micheal
O’Hearn) pushes his mind and body to the breaking point but still
believes he is going to make it. The movie is a dissent into
Maddox’s insanity and what it means to shoot for your dreams when
you really don’t understand the world you’re in. I really liked
this movie and yeah, it has issues, but overall it’s the best movie
in theaters right now and I encourage everyone to check it out.
