Having been a child of the late 50’s and throughout the 60’s,
Bernie literally grew up in the middle of the “Space-Age.” He was
surrounded by Sci-Fi themed comics, Sci-Fi themed black and white B
movies and Sci-Fi television shows. And let’s not forget the many
pulp sensationalist Flying Saucer expose magazines that adorned the
newsstands at the time. So, believing in the unbelievable came
believably easy for Bernie. Flying Saucers landing out in distant
country fields, disgorging humanoids who run all over the place
collecting rocks? NO PROBLEM! Now, throw Ghosts, haunted houses,
the Abominable Snowmen (He didn’t have Bigfoot’s back then.)
Nessie, silver-screen Werewolves, the monster under bed, or the one
lurking in the closet into the mix, and the Fortean garden of the
mind is thoroughly fertilized.
