Believe it or not, the very first actor cast in what would
eventually become “The Hangover” wasn’t Bradley Cooper or Heather
Graham -- heck it wasn’t even Zach Galifianakis -- no, that honor
belongs to Ed Helms, who at the time, was starring in the
television series, “The Office”. While “The Hangover’s” director,
Todd Philips, might have had an easy time selecting Ed, the rest of
the casting process would become much more challenging after
big-time stars like Paul Rudd and Jack Black turned it down. The
budget was then slashed after Philips decided to go with
lesser-known actors in the lead roles. It would wind up being the
right call because while the Cast of The Hangover might have been
largely unknown at the time of its release in the summer of 2009,
before the end of that year the careers of actors like Bradley
Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Ken Jeong, would take-off
and they’d go onto star in some other, critically acclaimed
performances. Meanwhile, other cast members like Heather Graham and
Justin Bartha would also benefit from being part of the franchise,
while actress Sasha Barrese would decide to leave the acting life
behind altogether. How about we see what the Cast of “The Hangover”
is up to nearly twelve years after the release of the first
installment of their now-iconic trilogy?
