In episode 5, I lecture on chapter 14 of the 9th edition of Peter
G. Northouse's "Leadership: Theory and Practice." During the
segment, I discuss the Glass Ceiling and Leadership Labyrinth
metaphors which as they are used to describe the intersection of
gender and leadership in the sports world. Those interested in
learning more are encouraged to read these two research articles:

1) Gendered Leadership Networks in the NCAA: Analyzing
Affiliation Networks of Senior Woman Administrators and Athletic
Directors

2) Passage Through the Leadership Labyrinth: Women’s Journey in
the Collegiate Recreation Profession

In the Rapid Fire Interview segment, I discuss leadership
philosophy and principles with Erin McCormick, the Vice President
& General Manager at Gwinnett Stripers (@GoStripers). Erin is
a fellow member of the Trinity University alumni community and is
one of a handful of female General Managers in AAA baseball. She
highlights her "rising tides lift all ships" philosophy and
describes the difference between problem solvers and problem
seekers. She also discusses why experience, internships, and
volunteerism matters for those wanting to work in sports.
Additionally, Erin takes her role as one of the few females
holding her position in the industry seriously and she approaches
her day-to-day decisions using the "you can't be what you can't
see" approach.
