In episode 6, I lecture on chapter 5 of the 9th edition of
Peter G. Northouse's "Leadership: Theory and Practice." During
the segment, I provide an overview of Hersey and Blanchard's
Situational Leadership Model, discuss details about the
connection between a leader's style and the follower's
developmental level, and why it's essential that leaders engage
in conversations with their team members.

In the Rapid Fire Interview segment, I discuss leadership
philosophy and principles with Shelly Setzer, the co-founder
of Realize, an organizational consulting and
team development company that seeks to create enduring
organizations where people flourish. Shelly is a fellow member of
the Trinity University alumni community and was an
important part of the Trinity women's soccer team
that helped launch the program into the
next stratosphere.

She highlights the value of listening to your inner voice,
that great leaders create cultures where employees can feel seen
and heard, and why The Five Dysfunctions of a Team is a
valuable tool for organizations, big or small. Shelly says
that everyone in the organization, regardless of title, can 1)
show up with curiosity and courage, 2) be yourself, and 3) work
to build trust. It was such a joy to catch up with an old friend
who is doing her part to make the world a better place!

Send me your thoughts and let's keep the
