What Does It Mean to Live on Mission? // Passionate Series Part 3

What does it mean to live on mission? Living on mission means
actively pursuing God’s purpose every day and, in every way,
which is to glorify Him in all you do so others will come to know
Him. It is the Great Commission. 


Know this: God wants to use you in His plan to draw others to His
heart. You are His “plan A” to reach those around you—this is
living on mission. 





LIVING ON OR GOING ON A MISSION | WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?


Living on mission doesn’t necessarily mean going on a mission,
but rather it is a way of walking out your faith and becoming
God’s ambassadors wherever you are. Perhaps God has called you to
GO ON A mission–to go into another area or country and preach the
Gospel. But for most of us, this isn’t God’s calling on our
lives. Instead, He says “go” which means while you are going. In
other words, “While you live your life, live on mission for
Me.” 


Living on mission will likely push us out of your comfort zone,
but it is not burdensome. (See 1 John 5:3-4)





FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION IS WHAT IT MEANS TO LIVE ON
MISSION


Matthew 28:18-20 records Jesus’ final words before He ascended to
heaven. 


“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has
been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with
you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”





A COMMISSION – An instruction, command, or duty given to a person
or group of people. 


Before Christians become active in the Great Commission they need
to understand God’s sovereignty over all creation. Jesus holds
all authority, and He empowers us through the Holy Spirit to live
on mission no matter where we are. Before we participate in the
Great Commission, we must be a disciple of Christ. 


A DISCIPLE – A follower, student of a teacher, leader or
philosopher.





Wherever we go, and whoever God puts in our path, we are to look
for opportunities to share the Gospel so others become disciples
of Jesus.
