Ep. 76: Happiest Season: A Different Kind of Holiday Film & Holiday Film Formula

It’s the month of December and only in a COUPLE OF WEEKS;
Christmas, New Years, and many other holiday celebrations will
arrive, which means HOLIDAY MOVIES! You read correctly, we’re
stepping away from our usual horror schedule to bring you some
good feeling, fun loving, holiday films. On today’s episode we
talk about the new Hulu original; Happiest Season. Happiest
Season follows the formula of most holiday films, but has a
unique twist on it, being that it centers around a gay couple.
Oddly enough, having a gay couple be the center of a holiday film
is still something that you don’t see too often. We also dive
deep into the representation that this film gives to the LGBTQ+
community, how a lot of these stories may be unheard of because
of the subject matter, and how diversity in the
writing/directing/acting chair gives a brand new perspective
apart from the regular ol’ straight male view on movies.
