Many of you say you want financial independence and work hard for
it, but have you ever wondered what that really means to you? Over
the years, many of the people I've sat down with and spoken to tell
me that they want to become financially independent, have financial
security, and financial stability. But what does that really mean
to you? When you pursue something, do you even know why you are
pursuing it? A quick story about my background - when I grew up, I
only saw my parents twice a year because they had to work in
another town to earn money. That planted seeds in my head and I
told myself, I don't ever want to worry about money. I want to be
financially independent, I don't want to ever worry about money,
and I certainly don't want any of my family to suffer due to
financial circumstances. So when I came to the US, I thought that
in order to earn a lot of money, I had to earn a degree. I went to
New Jersey to get a Master's Degree in Business. When I graduated,
I thought I was going to be wealthy and financially free, but
reality crushed me. I was only offered minimum wage. That is when I
started thinking about how I can become financially free if I was
only earning minimum wage. Then I picked up the book Rich Dad, Poor
Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. It is a great book to start your success.
It changed my mindset and it told me that I needed to move from the
left side to the right side, from employee to entrepreneur, if I
wanted to become successful. That was the 360-degree mindset shift
because we were never taught to become entrepreneurs, the school
did not mention anything about having your own business, and my
mother certainly did not teach me any of that. What I learned from
that book really made sense to me along with my personal
experiences. If I wanted to become financially independent, I
cannot work for somebody else because my income would always cap.
That book planted a seed in me to pursue the journey to becoming an
entrepreneur and investor. The book is brilliant. It introduces a
lot of great concepts but it does not tell you how to do it. There
is no school that will teach you what you need, so what I did was I
read all kinds of books that were related to wealth creation and
attended seminars. Whenever people would talk about stocks and real
estate and how they can build wealth, I would do them. I have had a
lot of great success in the past 10 years and I have done many
things right, but I also made a lot of mistakes. I started my real
estate investment company and I remember my first deal, it was a
flipping deal and I lost almost $50,000. After that, I listened to
many people talk about stocks, other options, bitcoins, and
unfortunately, I lost a lot of money in the process. At the time, I
was very frustrated because even when I did everything needed, I
still did not have the financial freedom that I wanted. I read the
books, attended the seminars, and even had my own financial
advisor. Later on, I discovered this true wealth formula to have
financial independence and freedom:1. Understand what is wealth and
how it is measured. Many people think that wealth is measured by
money. I used to think that way too. We think that in order to be
wealthy and have financial freedom, you need to have a lot of
money. But the ultra-wealthy - they do not measure their wealth
with money. They measure it with time. So if you will stop working
today, how long will the money in your bank account last you? When
you look at wealth this way, you truly understand that if you want
to have financial independence, freedom, and security, you need to
go after PASSIVE INCOME.2. Understand that in order to achieve
financial freedom, you need passive income. When was the last time
your parents taught you about passive income? When was the last
time that the school taught you how to create passive income? How
do you know the things you don't know? I used to go after
everything blindly too until I reali...
