The Little Mermaid

Episode Summary


Join Erin and Rachel under the sea for the first princess film in
30 years! The Little Mermaid (1989) marked the beginning
of the Disney Renaissance, a period of renewed investment in
animation at the Disney Corporation. With musical numbers from
Broadway dynamos Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, the film smashed
the box office, but did Princess Ariel smash the patriarchy?
