We all have or will experience deep loss at one time or another.
The death of a spouse, parent, child or close friend is
inevitable in life. Today on the podcast, I am chatting with
Megan Miller who became a widow at a very young age. Her story of
loss and how she has used that loss to help others is an
inspiration. She openly shares her story of grief, having the
courage to heal and ultimately starting a beautiful business
because of this.

Sometimes pain comes when you least expect it.

Megan lost her husband within a week of him getting sick, leaving
her with a 5 month old and no home. A few months later she
tragically lost her brother as well. She was reeling from the
unexpected loss in her life and it changed her dramatically.

God never wastes your pain.

God stirred something inside of Megan and she ended up using her
family background in farming and her pain to help her go back to
school and get a degree in counseling and equine therapy. This
ultimately helped her open a restoration and retreat center for
people who are going through what she went through.

Heal your WHOLE body.

Megan’s retreats focus on helping people heal their health, mind,
body and spirit. She creates space for all of those things in
order for people to be able to move forward toward complete
healing. You have to walk through your pain in order to get
through to the other side and she helps people do just that.
Megan uses horses, photography, nature and the bible to help
people who are dealing with loss and pain.

Carve out the time.

If you are dealing with a loss, death or otherwise, commit to
dealing with it. Journal, go on a retreat, meet with a trusted
friend, meditate on scripture and/or talk to someone about it.
Take the time to heal and work through the pain instead of just
sitting in it. Do something that is life-giving and give yourself
permission to feel and deal with the pain, even if it is 5
minutes per day.

Put your trust in the right place.

God promises to never leave or abandon us. We can lean on him,
get angry with him, and even question him. He can take it and
will walk with us on the journey. He doesn’t promise that we
won’t have suffering, but he does promise to be our comforter.

God gives us strong testimonies so we can share our story and
help others through their pain. Megan has used her story over and
over to walk with others and help them move forward. God has
redeemed her story and he can do the same for you! Be encouraged
that “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God
is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn
of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:2).
