Another legend bows to the king … Guest Profile
Don Freschi is the host of the popular television show Sport
Fishing on the Fly. A British Columbia, Canada native, Don grew
up fishing his home waters with his Dad for salmon and trout. But
Don encountered something at the age of 13 that changed his life
forever. A fly rod. The first time he saw someone using one he
was hooked. Now, after 23 seasons of SFOTF, Don loves his fly
rods (all 60+ of them!) more than ever. In fact, he is taking
things to a whole new level next season on the show. Yet, in this
episode we look back at Don’s most epic encounters with the
ultimate fly rod quarry – tarpon. Of all the incredible fish Don
has caught, it is the Silver King that reigns supreme.

Fishing experience
As a fly fishing television show host for over two decades, Don’s
fishing experience needs little introduction. He’s caught pretty
much every fish you could want tugging on the end of a fly line.
From salmon and trout in British Columbia to saltwater species in
the tropics, Don gets after them all. And he brings his audience
right along with him to learn and explore as he goes.
Don Freschi, host of Sport Fishing on the Fly, with some of his
favorite catches including one of the tarpon we talk about in
this episode (lower right)
Location
This episode takes place in Cuba.
