Sometimes mosquito + red is a good thing … Guest Profile
Captain Jonathan Moss is the owner and operator of Go Castaway
Fishing Charters in Central Florida. Light tackle saltwater
fishing for Mosquito Lagoon redfish is his specialty. Capt.
Jonathan grew up in Orlando and on the “Space Coast” of Florida.
He has always loved saltwater and freshwater fishing here. Before
guiding he took a detour as a PE teacher for a few years,
but the call of the water was too strong. Capt. Jonathan hung up
his whistle and picked up his push pole. These days he can be
found poling clients around in his skiff for Mosquito Lagoon
redfish, speckled sea trout, black drum, snook, and tarpon. But
in this episode, the Mosquito Lagoon redfish bite was so
incredible the most difficult part was heading home.

Fishing experience
Captain Jonathan grew up fishing for all of Central Florida’s
freshwater and saltwater species. Whether on the lakes, lagoons,
or beach, fishing was always his place of solitude. Now he spends
most of his time putting clients on Mosquito Lagoon redfish,
speckled sea trout, black drum, snook, and tarpon. Above all,
Captain Jonathan still has the heart of a teacher. He loves to
teach anglers how to sightfish Mosquito Lagoon redfish using both
conventional and flyfishing tackle.
Left – Captain Jonathan Moss with a beautiful Mosquito Lagoon
redfish. Right – just one of the fish from the epic day described
in this episode (notice the background fog!). Inset – Captain
Jonathan’s super cool surfboard fence.

This episode takes place in Central Florida on the Mosquito
Lagoon.
