This Friday, Veterans Day 2022, college basketball returns to an
aircraft carrier when Gonzaga meets Michigan State on the USS
Abraham Lincoln in the San Diego harbor. On this edition of
19nine SHORTS, The Chucker, 19nine’s resident historian, revisits
the inaugural Carrier Classic in 2011. He explains how – over the
course of a decade – this novel event transitioned from a crazy
idea into one of the most distinctive college basketball games
ever played.
