What was ‘The Game of Change’ and how did it shape college basketball?

Sixty years ago, Mississippi State and Loyola met in the second
round of the 1963 NCAA Tournament. The journey to that matchup,
however, was anything but easy in a nation and in a sport still
battling with racial segregation. “The Game of Change” required
two competitive, daring programs, a cunning escape from
Mississippi, and a willingness to challenge convention. The
