Trustco Life introduces new medical insurance product - OnawaMed

Windhoek,  Namibia – Trustco Life developed and introduced
OnawaMed as an  affordable and unique medical insurance
product to provide access and  cover against the costs of
consultations at private medical doctors.

OnawaMed  is underwritten by Trustco Life and will unlock
medical care by  selected private doctors and pharmacies to
the average Namibian for whom  quality healthcare is
unavailable due to high and ever-increasing cost  that is
exceedingly higher than the consumer price index the past few
 years.

The Covid-19 pandemic that was preceded by a hepatitis E
 outburst required from Trustco to innovate and develop an
insurance  product that adds value to the overall health of
the nation.

It  is no secret that traditional medical cover is not
affordable to the  average Namibian. In 2019 it was revealed
that expenditure in  healthcare, which is influenced by the
annual inflation in medical fees  has consistently exceeded
the Namibia consumer price index for the past  years.

As a means to try and curb expensive medical costs,
 OnawaMed will offer insured members access to fifteen (15)
doctors’  consultations and fifteen (15) acute medication
prescriptions up to the  value of N$150.00 per prescription
per year. This product is now  available to members
country-wide as Trustco Life expand its network of  service
providers, being doctors and pharmacies.

The product will  cover the main member, and up to four (4)
dependents who will enjoy  cover under the OnawaMed policy.
The product also includes a free  funeral benefit for all
the insured members.
