Apple O', Deerhoof

       We listen to Deerhoof's
Apple O' from 2003. Deefhoof carved out their own distinct niche
somewhere in the middle of Lightning Bolt, Blonde Redhead and The
Boredoms - just as challenging but able to wring out crunchy guitar
riffs that always seem to end too soon. It's precise but willing to
fail at the same time, quiet and calming or blasting kick drum
thumps. They thrive on this contradiction and keeping everyone
guessing from one track to the next. We appreciate the hell out of
this and disagree with Steve Albini's premise that the only people
left in music are good because there's no money in it. Email -
