Why should I be REFERRED to another hospital? - The Truth and the Lies

REFERRAL! I have lost count of how many times patients, and
sometimes, their relatives, beg not to be referred - they perceive
that the ONLY reason for the referral is because the patient's
condition has worsened. As much as I hate to admit this perception
MAY be true SOMETIMES, it is not ALWAYS the case! Referral is a
delicate balance between what a hospital is capable of doing (in
terms of workforce, available skills and facilities) and the
medical need of each patient. Once there's a disparity... an action
must be taken! And Yes, in this episode, I had to touch on FIRST
AID. Everyone seems to want to talk about first aid when someone
presents to the hospital in an emergency situation. WHAT EXACTLY IS
THE MEANING OF FIRST AID? What exactly is wrong with referring a
