Nancy Hogshead-Makar - Gold Medal Master - 3x Olympic Gold Medalist

Nancy Hogshead-Makar won 3 golds and a silver at the 1984 LA
Olympic Games. She received a law degree from Georgetown and has
devoted her life to fighting for gender equity in sports. Three
years before her Olympic triumphs, Nancy was brutally raped while
attending Duke University. She feared she was too emotionally
damaged to swim again, but the support of her coach and community
in getting her back in the water after this trauma ultimately
saved her life and her sanity. Nancy uses these profound life
experiences as the CEO of Champion Women, an organization leading
targeted efforts for equality and accountability in sport. Thanks
to the tireless efforts of her team, in 2018, the Protecting
Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and SafeSport Authorization Act
was finally enacted. Nancy continues to fight for the rights of
women athletes every single day.
