In Search of the Crystal Skull Episode 31: Labyrinth

In this episode of In Search of the Crystal Skull, Arun and
Patricia continue with Jim Henson Month with the 1986 fantasy
film Labyrinth. A 16-year-old teenage girl named Sarah wishes for
her baby half brother Toby to be taken away by the goblin king.
When she gets her wish granted, she changes her mind and wants
him back. Jareth, the goblin king, tells Sarah that she has 13
hours to traverse through a labyrinth and into his castle by
Goblin City to get him back. Along the way, she meets a dwarf
named Hoggle, a hairy monster named Luto, and a fox riding a dog
named Sir Didymus and together they go many paths, trials, and
obstacles to rescue Toby before time runs out.


When the film premiered in theaters, it made $34 million dollars
out of a $25 million dollar budget with mixed reviews from
critics criticizing the plot, but praising its visual effects,
puppet work, and creativity. It currently has a 77% rating on
Rotten Tomatoes.


Like The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth has gained a cult following over
the years and various comic books, video games, a manga, and
picture books were released to continue the story and celebrate
