Have you ever tried to lose weight? Were you
successful? Did you gain the weight back? If you have ever
dealt with any of these things, you are probably familiar with
these common responses from friends, family, co-workers, and
fitness "gurus": "Eat less, exercise more," "All it takes is hard
work. Stop being lazy," "You have no willpower." Those responses
are so discouraging, and instead of motivating you to go after
your goals with determination they most likely make you want to
run for a bag of chips or some ice cream. If it was really that
easy to achieve health and wellness goals, we wouldn't see the
prevalence of diseases and obesity that we see today. There are
deeper issues. Only when we figure out what those issues are and
find healthy ways to work through them will we be able to achieve
our goals. Rachel Payetta is a certified health and wellness
coach specializing in emotional eating, stress management,
organization, and helping clients to build their self worth, self
esteem and self confidence.
