William Faulkner's Southern voice; Shutdown shenanigans; Salt and Light

The Bill of Rights was passed by Congress on this date in 1789, and
would be ratified by the states two years later.  Nobel
Prize-winner and Southern writer extraordinaire William Faulkner
was born on this date in 1897. We hear part of his 1950 Nobel
acceptance speech. House Republicans are scrambling to come up with
