The reconciliation that Jesus brings to our relationship with him
and others is paradoxical in nature. Those who strive for the
reconciliation that Jesus desires for us (a deep reconciliation
that centers on God), they will find their inner selves and
personal relationships initially and profoundly destabilized; often
conflict ensues. However, as we let the gospel teach us the nature
of true reconciliation, we will eventually find ourselves working
toward a reconciliation with God and with others that is far more
real, far more freeing, and far more healing than any
reconciliation we could have mustered on our own. | Matthew
