Mass Timber Market Updates - Dec 2021 - Week Fiftyone

In this episode, happy holidays to all our listeners. The
25-story Ascent, 700 E. Kilbourn Ave., staged its topping off
ceremony recently. That marks the building reaching its highest
point, with the roof now in place. The $80 million, 259-unit
high-rise is being constructed with a technique known as mass
timber or cross-laminated timber. The very first Mass Timber and
Net Zero Carbon institutional building in all of Ontario is well
underway at Centennial College's Progress Campus in Scarborough.
Designed by Belfast-based OPAL Architecture and built in
collaboration with OPAL Build, a sister company to OPAL
Architecture, the middle school building is built to the Passive
House standard for energy efficiency.
