In this week's episode, the Province of B.C. is kicking in
$250,000 for the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce's new digs – a
multi-purpose commercial/tourism hub to be called The Confluence.
NDP cabinet ministers today announced $1.2 million in funding for
four new mass timber projects, including a new 783-unit student
housing building for the University of Victoria. Commissioned,
planned and constructed in barely 18 months, this new building in
Berlin bucks the trend for German government projects being
delayed and over-budget. As the Government works to ‘build
back greener’, the Confederation of Timber Industries (CTI) in
partnership with Waugh Thistleton Architects have hosted the UK
Construction Minister Lee Rowley, on a site visit to the Black
and White building. Winner of both the Gold Award and the
Education and Public Sector category of the Wood Awards 2021,
Magdalene College Library in Cambridge is a striking example of
sympathetic design, beautiful materials and careful craftmanship.
The recently revealed design concept for the expansion of
Santiago International Airport in the Dominican Republic includes
a transformation of the current building into a mixed-use space
that features an office park, business center, and
hotel.
