Marten Van Riel - Ironman Cozumel Drama & Becoming T100 World Champion

Marten Van Riel joins us today to talk about the craziness of his
debut Ironman in Cozumel where he was leading at 165km after
having been solo all day before crashing his bike and colliding
with a young girl on the side of the bike course. He went on to
have the fastest marathon of the day running 2:39 but because of
the time spent on the side of the rode he didn’t win or get his
Ironman World Championship qualifying slot. We hear all the
details from Marten in his first podcast since it happened. We
also do a season debrief where we talk about his incredible
season on the T100 World Tour becoming the first ever world
champion and showing everyone that he is a force over middle
distance.
