In the summer of 1973 a young couple was parked by an Illinois
riverside for a romantic encounter when they came face to face with
a huge, wet, hairy, mud-slathered beast with a taste for disturbing
teenage lovers. During two terrifying weeks in the summer of 1973,
the rural town of Murphysboro, Illinois became the epicenter of a
terrifying series of encounters with a huge, albino beast, which
would come to be known as the “Murphysboro Mud Monster” or the “Big
Muddy Monster.”
