TWS Episode 93 - ”The Golem of Prague”

In the late 16th century the Jews of Prague were being subjected
to horrific pogroms or “ethnic cleansings” at the hands of the
citizens of the city. Many expected the Holy Roman Emperor King
Rudolf ll to order the Jew ghetto purged completely. The
spiritual leader of the community  Judah Loew ben Bezalel
known as The Maharal decided to take action to protect his
people. Taking clay from the banks of the Vltava River he
and his assistants set to work to craft an ancient Jewish
construct known as a "Golem" to protect their people.
