For want of a nail, the shoe was lost; For want of a shoe, the
horse was lost; For want of a horse, the rider was lost; For want
of a rider, the message was lost; For want of the message, the
battle was lost; For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost, And
all for the want of a nail. - John Gowers This old childrens
nursery rhyme is a classic reminder of how often it is the small
details that have the greatest impact on our lives and the lives of
others. Today, we'll be exploring the process of taking
notice of the subtle, sometimes overlooked aspects of daily living
that can lead to either a tremendous help or hindrance in achieving
our goals. Often we will either place what we need on the
proverbial back burner in order to take care of others, or pass up
a chance to nuture another because we are absorbed in our own
reality. The best place of balance is somewhere in the
middle!
