DANNO HANKS - HOLLYWOOD DETECTIVE: I was Tinseltown's Private
Eye
Born into poverty in California, I was headed for a life inside. I
prowled the night to avoid my abusive stepfather, stealing cars and
burgling houses to survive. But prison time showed me I could put
my criminal skills to good use – as a Private Investigator. I made
crime pay.
Then I got drafted into the Marines. In Vietnam, the Navy taught me
how to spy. Back in The World, I became an even better Private Eye.
I’d learned how to tap phone lines and bug hotel rooms. I worked as
a CIA contract operative, and went undercover for the FBI,
infiltrating The Gambino crime family. As an illegal PI, I
straddled both sides of the fence. From the glamour of Hollywood,
to the sleazy underbelly of LA’s vices. I targeted celebrities,
porn-stars, prostitutes, gangsters, paedophiles – I was the keeper
of Tinseltown’s secrets.
Then, it got even sleazier: I was hired by the British tabloids to
dig the dirt for the biggest stories of the century: Jeffrey
Epstein, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Michael Jackson, Heidi
Fleiss, OJ Simpson….you name it. I did them all - let God sort 'em
out. For 20 years, I was a central cog in the Rupert Murdoch’s
illegal newsgathering machine at Foxand the New York Daily Post.
From London, The Sun and the News of the World wired me £100,000s
to find out confidential information about the stars. But the Daily
Mail, the Mirror and the big paparazzi agencies also wanted a piece
of the action – soon they got addicted to my illegal reports.
Then came the phone hacking scandal. The net closed in. I realised
the harm my work was causing.
Now it’s time to tell the whole truth and nothing but the
truth.
