#7 Interview with Alex Culvin

A special episode featuring former Vixen Alex Culvin; footballer
turned academic.


Alex made 14 appearances for Bristol Academy between 2011-12,
coming of footballing age during the inaugural FA WSL season. She
was part of the team that lost the 2011 FA Cup Final against
Arsenal, playing alongside club legends Grace McCatty and Corinne
Yorston.


In this episode we reflect on the additional expectations placed
on women footballers over the past decade to 'inspire a
generation'. We also talk about player wellbeing, athlete
activism and social media, the impact of FA policies and what
could be done - beyond financial investment - to ensure that
elite women's football remains competitive over the next 5-10
years.
