The deal between Comcast and Netflix is the beginning of the end
of "net neutrality" and the end of the Internet as we
know it. Like most Internet subscribers, I am paying for a monthly
data allowance at a "guaranteed" minimum speed that is fast enough
to deliver streaming content. Likewise, content providers are
paying their ISP to put their content out on the Internet. It
should not matter what content I choose to receive, it should be
delivered in a nondiscrimanatory manner. Apparently, this is no
longer the case. Comcast is extorting money from Netflix to ensure
that their content is delivered uninterrupted. Netflix has to pay
protection money to Comcast, otherwise an "accident" might happen
and customers might not receive the experience that they are paying
for. The premise of the Internet is that all content is treated
equally; the little startup can compete on an equal footing with
the giants. Now this is coming to an end. Either pay the mob for
preferential treatment or pay the price of substandard service that
drives customers away. Where will this end? What do you think? Call
