Dr. Jim Carpenter is both a clinical psychologist and a research
parapsychologist. He is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology, ABPP,
and a Fellow in the American Academy of Clinical Psychology, and is
a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry of
the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He has been
active in the governance of several professional societies, and
carries on an active private practice. Dr. Carpenter has published
widely in psychology and parapsychology. For many years he has
provided pro bono clinical consultation for persons who seek help
with unpleasant experiences that they think of as psychic. He
recently published a book developing a theory of psi, called First
Sight: ESP and Parapsychology in Everyday Life
(www.firsightbook.com), published by Rowman & Littlefield. He
was awarded the Charles Honorton Award for Integrative
Contributions by the Parapsychological Association, and he recently
served as president of that Association.
