Twelve years ago Saturday, my mother passed away. Grief
isn’t something we plan or prepare for, so when it comes it’s
often unexpected—even if someone’s death is expected due to a
terminal illness. I’ve been looking back at my own grief
journey, and studying the most common things about grief that
cause people to get stuck and what helps them get unstuck.
I’m excited to share those tips with you today. This is the
first part in a series on grief. The next few episodes will
include an episode sharing my experience of my mother passing
away, an episode interviewing my siblings about their various
grief experiences and an episode about what to say and what not
to say to people experiencing grief.
On the podcast you’ll learn:
Why the using the common grief model by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
to understand your grief journey might NOT be helpful
Different graphics or models that may be more helpful
What the four tasks are that help us heal from grief
