God calls Abram his friend and appeared to him several times. God
reveals Himself to Abram as his shield and exceedingly great
reward. Reward in this context is payment of a contract or wages
for work. What did Abram do to earn this exceeding great reward
of intimacy with the Living God? What is doing the works of God?
