How College Impacts a Family: A Parent Perspective

Juan López Córdova and Lorena Cardenas came to San Diego from
Jalisco. When their children showed interest in applying to
college, they had lots of questions about the process. Gloria
Corral of the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) sits
down with Juan and Lorena as they reflect back on what they
learned, how they found support, navigating teacher/parent
relationships as a non-English speaker, and how their children’s
