Atomic War, Civil Defense and Fallout Shelters.

In this episode, I will examine the culture of civil defense that
existed in the 50s.  Many Americas believed that with proper
planning, the US would survive an Atomic attack.  I will
review two TV presentations from the 50s that convey that
perspective.  First up is Atomic Attack, a fictional account
of a suburban housewife surviving an attack.  The second is
a documentary entitled  A Day Called X, the program
demonstrates how effective civil defense can be if planned
according.  The document uses real people and not actors
including the Mayor of Portland, OR where the story takes
place.
