Episode #86 - Are You Out There - Part 1

In this week's episode, we begin studying "Are You Out There,"
one of the featured tracks on the forthcoming Night of the Demon
compilation album. The band describes how and why this song came
to be the third single in their 2020 7" vinyl release series. You
will hear the original press release for the single, and learn
Night Demon's trepidation about "Are You Out There" as a laidback
departure from their signature sound. Then the boys go into great
detail about the origins and evolutions of the song, beginning
with a 2015 demo recorded on a cellphone in Geneva, Switzerland
in 2015, and morphing over the course of three subsequent demos
reaching early 2019.  The guys explain what changed and why
over the course of these demos, and you'll hear the evolution
through those incremental recordings.  We leave off with
Night Demon heading to Chicago to record the song under the
tutelage of legendary producer Steve Albini.
