Episode #31 - Abe Woldeslassie (Black History Month spotlight)

For this episode we continue to highlight Black History Month and
we spotlight another African-American that is a leader in his
field.  Coach Abe Woldeslassie is the head men’s basketball
coach for D-3 Macalester College here in Minnesota.  Abe is
coaching at his alma-mater working to bring that group to
prominence in the always competitive MIAC conference.  Abe
is also a leader for another reason as he is the only
African-American head coach in the conference for men’s or
women’s basketball, a responsibility he doesn’t take lightly.
 

In this episode we chat about his path to becoming a head coach,
building up the Macalester  program and what it will take to
get more people of color opportunities to become a head
coach.  I also discover where the best maple syrup in the
country comes from and that we need to bring back the "play hard"
shorts with the 1990's.
