In the final weeks of the Trump administration, Rob and Jackie
sat down with Dan Wang, a technology analyst and China expert at
Gavekal Dragonomics Research, to discuss the successes and
failures of Chinese industrial policy and to evaluate the impact
of U.S. export restrictions. In the previous four years, there
weren’t many Chinese tech companies that the Trump administration
didn’t sanction or at least threaten. What did that achieve in
