When the word or term 'sanctification' is brought up, there seems
to be a lot of internal consternation about it. Most all
believers know what sanctification means. Yet, they feel that is
an unobtainable thing. Like King David who said, "Such knowledge
is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it."


Paul prayed, "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;
and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be
preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1
Thessalonians 5:23.


We see there are outward things we should and must do to sanctify
ourselves, and this we do. There is a responsibility to our own
walk and growth in Christ. "We give attendance to the reading of
God's word." We "study to show ourselves approved unto God," and
"pray always." "We do good unto them when it is in the power of
our hand to do it."


However there is a work of sanctification that only God can do
with our entire tripartite man. Our spirit, soul and bodies. We
work with God in this on our limited part, but only He can purge
and purify us because it is His spiritual work.


Listen, all of us living in this "present evil age" are polluted
from it. There are things within and without that we can still
detect that are leftovers from a sinful life. No amount of trying
to do things can purify spiritual deformities and abnormalities
expressed in the spirit, soul and body. There are ways we still
process life, things and habits we do, and even words we speak
and think that are not yet sanctified by God.


I think of what Paul said in his older age:  "Brethren, I
count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto
those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the
prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians
3:13.


How I see it is the forgetting those things that are behind, is
also a leaving them too. It is a daily leaving this world slowly
day by day to go to heaven. Let God the God of Peace sanctify you
wholly, spirit, soul and body. He will preserve you blameless
unto the coming of the Lord Jesus.


"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live." Can you
say that? Are you prepared to let God sanctify you? There is no
other way.....there is no other life. His life living in you. The
God of peace, ruling and reigning in your heart by One Jesus
Christ.
