During the reign of King Asa the prophet Azariah came to him with
a message from God. Which was for him and the people of Judah and
Benjamin to seek the Lord.  Because "for a long season
Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching
priest, and without law."

Asa gathered up the people together, and they made great
sacrifices. "They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of
their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul." They
made an oath with God with great rejoicing. He "removed his
mother Maacah from being queen, because she had made an idol in a
grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at
the brook Kidron."

"But the high places were not taken away out of Israel:
nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days." (2
Chronicles 15:17).  In every way Asa did the right thing,
and lived the rest of his life with a perfect heart. But there
was something lacking. He left the high places intact.

Are there any high places in you that though you are in right
standing with the Lord, you have allowed a little illegal
sanctuary to abide in you? Beware of the thing that you say that
it does not matter much, the fact that it does not matter much
matters a great deal to God. You say that you are right with God
but still the high places, the eminent places remain.

There is something that you have not obeyed. Are you protesting
that your heart is right with God? Yet is there something in your
life about which He has caused you to doubt? Whenever there is
doubt, quit immediately, no matter what it is.  Are there
things in connection with your bodily life, your intellectual
life? Only you can answer. Christ will do the rest. Then like
Asa, you will have peace and  rest in an internal war-less
land.

“The great enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin, but the
good which is not good enough. The good is always the enemy of
the best.”
